Get Outdoors Camp

Details have now been released for the District Get Outdoors Camp 25th & 26th March.

Volunteers are needed. See below from the organiser Mark Gallacher…

Hi All,

It is time to get ourselves ready for the first District Scout Section camp in the programme agreed at the recent Scout Section meeting.  I agreed to pick up the coordination of the first one which was billed as 24 – 26 March 2023 -Hardie Webster Training Weekend.

This has changed slightly. The event is now Get Outdoors and the premise of this camp is to give the Scouts the opportunity to gain a night away (possibly towards the Zodiac Award) and prepare our Troops and Leaders gently into the camping season and the great programme of Scouting weekends for Greenock & District that has been mapped out for 2023. It will have a balanced programme covering a range of scouting and outdoor skills as well as games, activities and extra challenges. No experience is required and it is a weekend to meet up, touch on a range of skills and have fun.

I have attached the joining details and outline of the programme.  If you would like any more information please get in touch by e-mail or give me a call.

Basics:

Get Outdoors

Saturday 25th – Sunday 26th March

Cost is £5 (camp fees, Saturday supper, activity) + your charge for dinner/breakfast and anything else

Troop interest to be submitted by 5th March

Numbers to be confirmed (inc Leaders) by 19th March

Please advertise and promote this with your scouts. It would be great to see you all at Everton on the 25th March.

Leaders are welcome to attend the evening before (Friday 25th) to assist setting up the camp and socialising.

HELP NEEDED – An Ask:

Help is required to pull the programme and lower-level detail together. I need a team of volunteers who would like to be part of the core team to deliver the weekend.

Also, there is a team needed to assist with bases and activities over the weekend.

For both asks, could you please get in touch with me by the 28th of Feb to allow time for planning and coordinating necessary equipment.

Where possible all leaders should dine with troops. Once additional leader volunteers are known that are not part of a troop a plan will be made for dinner – this will be something central or eating with the troops, however a donation will be required to cover this. Same with any Friday night campers. We can sort all this out way in advance.

Thanks

Mark
