The District Radio Club (MM0TSG) hosted the annual World Scout Jamboree on the Air/Internet (JOTA/JOTI) event for Greenock & District Scouts last weekend.

Various sections including, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers took part in a variety of activities over the weekend for the special event station GB0GDS.

All sections attending took part in various games during their visit, along with participating in the JOTI event.

Most popular was morse code battle ships, Bomb Disposal, Scout Minecraft, and a treasure hunt for the younger members who had to hunt for QSL cards (Postcards) from various countries and then work out which country the card was from. This game was devised by club members to make use of the many QSL cards the club has been sent from all over the world.

In the JOTI chat room via the scout-link server, contacts were made with Scouts in Norway and California U.S.A. with the scouts chatting to each other.

The station GB0GDS contacted many Scout Stations over the weekend with contacts in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales, along with scout stations in the Netherlands & Greece.

Over the weekend the station made contact with 35 different countries

One of the first stations contacted was a special event station in the Netherlands PH80LIB/J celebrating the liberation of the North Brabent area in the Netherlands by various combined Scottish Battalions.

The club would like to thank Martin Beer from 73rd G & D Group, who provided the JOTI activity over the weekend. Thanks also to Scouts Reuben from 73rd , Jack from 70th & Radio Amateur MM7EWD for their help with the activities over the weekend and for making the event enjoyable to everyone involved
