Its Back?!!!
After a long hibernation the District is pleased to announce the return of the Hardie Webster Camping Competition.
The competition will take place at Everton Camp Friday 9th – Sunday 11th September 2022.
The objective of the competition is to test Scouts on their camping, bush craft, knots & lashings, cooking, task management, teamwork, leadership, first aid skills, and ability to promote the scout laws with a few fast balls thrown in tokeep them on their toes?!!.
Scouts are required to work in teams as a patrol of six and will be tested on their scouting abilities. Scouts must be able to work independent of leaders and will be marked on their scouting abilities by a team gathered from the District. Groups may enter teams as either competing patrols or training teams. There is an amount of equipment available for groups to borrow if you do not already possess it. A trophy and prizes will be awarded to the winning patrols.
There will be a meeting of group leaders wishing to enter teams at District headquarters on Wednesday 24th August 2022 at 1900hrs.
Please email [email protected] to either indicate your Groups participation or non-participation.
The Hardie Webster competition is not only a test of your Scouts abilities but also a very effective learning process for those not familiar with the skills required. This is a great opportunity following COVID to refresh those skills which many of us have been unable to practice. Therefore, Groups are encouraged to participate.
Yours in Scouting
Gordon Sinclair
Acting Assistant District Commissioner (Scouts).
