As a well known part of the Amateur Radio community, the Greenock and District Scouts Amateur Radio Group, were invited to provide the “VOICE” of the Amateur Radio Special Event Station for the UCI Cycling World Championships.
Five members of the Group travelled to Stirling where the Stirling & District Amateur Radio Society were hosting the weekend event.
Using the Call Sign GB1CWC the team operated both voice and digital radio modes.
Between both clubs, they communicated with 4,174 other Amateur Radio enthusiasts around the world who were interested in the Special Event Station and the cycling event in general.
A good time was had by all and it was agreed the activation of the Special Event was a great success.
The group would like to thank the Stirling & District Amateur Radio Society for their invitation and hospitality.
