Dumbarton Castle Visit

Posted on

The Inverkip & Wemyss Bay Scouts visited Dumbarton Castle last weekend where they learned about the long history of the site while exploring the fortifications and historic buildings on the rock.

They learned the importance of the fortress from the Viking era and the Britons of Strathclyde through to Mary Queen of Scots’ era and to its role in the later Napoleonic wars.

The Troop would like to thank Historic Environment Scotland for the chance to visit and explore the site. The troop are now looking forward to a camp in Bo’ness in the coming days.
