This weekend, 6 scout patrols (36 scouts ) from across the district took part in the Hardie Webster camping competition.
This competition weekend is without a doubt one of the hardest weekends a Scout can take part in and a real test of their Scouting skills and requires a lot of physical effort and skill.
It involves 2 nights of camping, cooking (on gas and on wood fires) and building useful camp gadgets all on their own without any help from leaders.
Their first challenge on Friday night was to put up their patrol tents, kitchen shelters and store tents in the rain.
The standard of camping skills was high and the competition was close. Everyone did their best.
“Well done to all patrols, you are a real credit to your groups and to the district” said Mark Gallacher.
Congratulations to the 70th who won overall and to the 6th and the 73rd who were close runners up.
Finally, huge thanks to the leader and young leader support team for making the event a huge success.
