10th Group Camp

The 10th held their annual group camp at Everton this weekend. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts , Young Leaders & Leaders joined in. For many of them this was their first visit to Everton & their first camp with the group.

Scouts & leaders arrived on Friday evening to set up camp. Saturday saw the arrival of beavers & cubs to join in the fun.

After a hike up the hill the cubs joined the scouts for a game of rounders before splitting into small groups to learn or refresh their fire lighting skills.

Then they linked arms in their teams and had a pumpkin hunt around the site.

A little later the beavers arrived and after a short rest played games on the parade ground before Hallowe’en activities including a pumpkin hunt around the campsite.

After lunch it was time for all sections to come together for relay games and challenges. Then , whilst the scouts had some free time the beavers and cubs battled it out with laser tag in the forest.

The District Commisioner Martin Buchan visited to present some leader awards. Beaver leader Aidan Grant was presented with his wood beads marking the completion of his leader training.

Scout Leader Gordon Sinclair was also awarded with his wood beads and presented with a Chief Scout Commendation award. This was not only for good service to the 10th but also to the District Scout Section as a whole in his role as ADC Scouts and for his involvement in Everton.

Martin said he was “delighted to present this award to Gordon for all his good work throughout the district”. Big well done to both Aidan & Gordon and thank you!

The day was finished with a pizza tea followed by a group campfire with songs, jokes, stories & riddles from all sections before the beavers headed home.

The cubs and scouts enjoyed some wide games including a CD challenge to win lots of sweets.

After a good nights sleep Sunday started with hot breakfast rolls before cleaning up. Scouts had some axe and saw training whilst cubs sheltered from the rain having fun in the forest.

Great fun was had by all at the weekend so a big thanks to all the leaders for organising and helping throughout the weekend.
