Itchy Midge Camp – Scout Section
Date: May 26, 2023 - May 29, 2023
Itchy Midgie fun activity camp for Greenock & District Scout Troops
Preparations for the District Itchy Midge Camp at Everton 26–28 May 2023 progress at pace.
The cost per Scout is £10.00 to District, with all groups charging whatever they then deem appropriate on top to cover their own costs. The District costs cover Camp Fees, Activity Fees, Powerboat Costs, Minibus Costs, District Food and Refreshments and Miscellaneous costs. As usual Saturday evening supper will be provided by the District but all other meals are to be covered by groups.
Camp Registration is between 1800 – 2000hrs on Friday 26 May 23. The camp will end at 1230hrs on Sunday 28 May 23.
We can confirm that the following activities are now planned. Please note that things may change dependent on scout numbers and leaders for activities.
– Power Boats
– Low Ropes & Lazer Tag/Nerf Gun Battle
– Crate Climbing & Tomahawk Throwing
– Archery & Grass Sledging
– Slippery Slope (Saturday Evening)
– Wide Games (Saturday Evening)
– Campfire (Saturday Night)
To finalise the planning of activities, we require estimated numbers of scouts and leaders attending. An indication of any special dietary requirements would also be very helpful.
I would be grateful if you could provide this information by Friday 19 May 2023.
Permit Holders for the required activities have been identified and we are now only awaiting a couple of replies to confirm participation. Most leader roles for non-permit activities have now been allocated however, all help for the district team will be gratefully accepted. Any training for non-permit Everton activities will be conducted on Friday evening.
All groups should note that the Saturday lunchtime meal must be a packed lunch, that the scouts must take with them to Saturdays activities. This should be taken into consideration when planning meals for your group. Scouts should have a water bottle with them for all activities.
The Everton camp staff will require help preparing activities and clearing away afterwards. One leader per group with 3 scouts, is to assist in the cleaning of the lodge, toilets, and site at the end of the camp on Sunday. All groups are responsible for the cleanliness of their camping area and must take all rubbish away with them.
This is a great opportunity for our scouts to experience a range of activities and to engage with scouts from other groups. There will be more information to follow, however if you have any questions, please get in touch and I will endeavor to assist.
Yours in Scouting
