Some older Scouts from the 85th Inverkip & Wemyss Bay have completed an Expedition in the hills spending two days hiking in the Arrochar Alps. This is a tough physical challenge which they coped with admirably. They wild camped at Butterbridge on the first night and on top of the Cobbler on the second night after carrying their full packs up the hill.
Sunday was a bit damp and misty, so they were able to practice their compass skills, being fully dependent on following bearings in the mist for an hour or two. They all earned their Expedition Challenge badge, and one of them has also completed his Chief Scout Gold award which is a huge achievement that takes 3 to 4 years of work to complete. The others have taken a big step towards that badge as well of course. Well done to them all!
